Design Summary & Analysis - Medical Robots (1st Draft)
According to an article from Case School of Engineering/Case Western Reserve University (2020), it is increasingly common for both interest and funding for medical robots to rise in the field of biomedical engineering. There are benefits for medical robots to be developed and use in healthcare. They can work relentlessly and without anxious compared to human beings. Their precision capabilities enable them to perform movements beyond the human range of motion. Additionally, they can help to reduce workload by automating less complex or repetitive task and leaving more complicated work to humans. There are currently five developed robots being implemented for use in hospitals and treatment centres to improve healthcare of the patient.
1) The da Vinci® Surgical Robot - offers the surgeon with more precise control for a range of procedures utilizing "magnified 3D high-definition vision" and control.
2) The Xenex Germ-Zapping Robot - An automated and portable robot utilize pulsed, full-spectrum UV rays to wipe out a range of harmful bacteria when disinfect entire hospital rooms in a short amount of time.
3) The PARO Therapeutic Robot - provides stress reduction and provide comfort as a treatment to post surgery anxiety or other mental illness.
4) The CyberKnife - provides radiation therapy to tumors with sub-millimeter precision.
5) The TUG - transporting supplies, meals and other materials around the hospital.
A world of innovation is possible due to robots have gotten
to be more advanced and responsive and make more prominent advances into
therapeutic treatment. Biomedical engineering is venturing out to seek new solutions to overcome issues like
